  1. It is believes that Antartica has been dominated by ice. This can be seen from the past until now that Antartica is abundance with ice. The question is, what happen to the future if the ice in Antartica melts from its continent? And of course, the sea levels goes up! To reconfirm the statements, scientist from all over world has intentions to reveal the secret behind the ice. As stated by all scientist, when the greenhouse gases increases, the earth will warming up faster. If global warming higher, the ice melts faster and the sea level will increase. The Andreal team, consist of 50 technicians from US, New Zealand, Germany and Italy started their research by drilling into the ice using the giant drill. The objective of the research is finding the answer that will Antartica be headed for a melt down? After about more than a month doing the research, they got the possible answer. After drilling more deeper, they can draw a picture of Antartica as it change from warm to cold millions years ago. One thing they gain, is the volcanic ash. The volcanic ash shows the hidden glacier once froze has never melted. Pliocene, is the time about millions years ago, where Antartica start to refreeze, melts again and again. The scientist state that Pliocene is globally warmer than today. Then the conclusion made is, if earth is warmer than Pliocene, what happen to the ice than? And did Ross Ice Shelf melt? To reveal more secret, they invent hot water drill that can drilling into deep and thick ice. During Pliocene, the ice is very sensitive to even small changes in climate. To the future, as the temperature changes, the ice refreeze and melts again and again. The sea level during Pliocene is much higher than even computer models project predicted. The result is, if ice in Antartica melted once it can melt again. In 5 years next, the level of greenhouse gases will be like in the Pliocene, which means the global warming increases and that affect the melting of ice. Once Antartica melts again, the sea level is the same as during Pliocene which means the whole world is in danger.

    1. What the scientist try to learn is the chronological history of the Antartica land past. So it gives a more accurate estimation rather than just relying on computer models.

      Thank you Ailah.
      You're always on time.

  2. The video is about what response should be taken in the Antarctica for the melting that happen today to prevent over-melting of the ice and could cause disaster on earth. Antarctica 90% ice in the world and anything that happen in the Antarctica such as the melting of its ice can cause disaster on earth. It is a concern to a city like New York that located near to sea as every sea level that rise can effect that city. If all ice in Antarctica melt, it can rise seawater to 12-storey height or more than 150 feet. 10% of ice in Antarctica already could cause catastrophic. It can be related to climate change as fossil fuel increase the level of carbon dioxide and trap solar energy in the atmosphere, therefore the earth is warming up and the ice melt. A team from geo-detective has come to Antarctica and do a research about if the ice in Antarctica ever melt before in the past by using giant drill. Antarctica once to be a tropical habitat 160 million years ago as one of the super-continent of earth. A prove for that case is when a group of geologist found a plant fossil such as mosses that it freeze dried. The mosses then further study using a microscope and found that the mosses flash frozen when the mosses plumed into a deep freeze and the cell it is preserved under the ice layer. East Antarctica ice sheet is 10 times bigger than West site and it is lesser stable than the East. 70% of all seawater harboured on the Antarctica. Antarctica with less precipitation happen to be the driest desert on earth. Wind speed up to 200mph sometimes blast the frozen terrain and can drop the temperature 100 Celsius below zero. Scientist only come to Antarctica for research during its short summer.

This video is about the ice in Antarctica. The scientists believe that the world will change if the ice in Antarctica melts. Almost three miles of ice buries most of Antarctica, cloaking a continent half again as large as the United States. But when an Antarctic ice shelf the size of Manhattan collapsed in less than a month in 2002, it shocked scientists and raised the alarming possibility that Antarctica may be headed for a meltdown. Even a 10 percent loss of Antarctica's ice would cause catastrophic flooding of coastal cities unlike any seen before in human history. NOVA follows a state-of-the-art expedition that is drilling three-quarters of a mile into the Antarctic seafloor. The drill is recovering rock cores that reveal intimate details of climate and fauna from a time in the distant past when the Earth was just a few degrees warmer than it is today. This unique multinational enterprise is called an drill the Antarctic drilling project for team leader David Harwood. They trying to figure it out trying to identify what has been the past history of the ice sheet and wondering what the future might hold. At about 480 meters deep, it is around the time when Jesus lived. These ice cores contain tiny bubbles of ancient atmosphere that were trapped each year as the snow was compressed into ice. They can get a record of how things for example temperature and sea ice changed in the past. They also understand that how the climate system is operating the past by combining the records. The team aims to drill though the Antarctica ice and the sea below then like a straw thrust through a layer cake. They will bore deep into the ocean floor in order to recover millions of years of rock and mud the trace Antarctica’s climate history. Even after ice began to form in Antarctica around 34 million years ago, the continent remained warm enough for plant life to survive a lot like areas of New Zealand today where ice can be found bordered by trees and plants. When did Antarctica plunge into solid deep freeze? How did it happen? Was it gradual or abrupt? How Antarctica changed from green house to ice house reveal new clues about the continents climate future and our own.

  4. As summarized, this video is all about the Antarctica which all composed by the ice. About 98% of the Antarctica is covered by the ice. As I can know from this video, ice began to form in Antarctica 34 million years ago. It is a mystery continent at the bottom of the earth of world and the single largest mass of ice on the earth. The scientists were doing their research about what will happen to the Antarctica and the world when the Earth get warmer and warmer. They believe that the world will change when the ice in Antarctica melts due to the temperature on Earth get warmer. The scientists said that the sea levels will increased when the ice melts. This is because the climate of the earth is changing and it is because the burning fossil fuels have increased the level of the carbon dioxide in our atmosphere. Ice in Antarctica moves for tens of millions of years, the glaciers scoured the land slowly gobbling up rocks and debris and spreading them all across the landscapes. The scientists called these as garbage pile paleontology because the ice sheet had deposited by the glacial movement. They also had proved that in the seafloor beneath the Antarctica ice shelf where the glacial movement also deposited layer after layer in chronological order. In order to recover the rocks of million years and mud the trace Antarctica’s climate history, a team from geo-detective which called Andrel team come to Antarctica aims to drill through its ice and sea below, like a straw thrust through the ocean floor which like the layer cake. In order for sea level to arisen, an enormous amount of ice must have to melt. So this will become a very dangerous thing because it will produce a contribution to future sea level damage. In order to prevent the worst situations to happen, scientists are trying their best to find out the ways to prevent the ice continue to melt enormously.
