Padi Sawah Week 2

Correction on soil pH from week 1

The pH of soil C which is soil from ODEC using the pH meter is actually 6.17 and not 7.17 as written on week 1.

Soil texture triangulation

To determine the texture of the soils, they're placed into bottles filled with water and left to settle. This allows the different components of the soil which are sand, silt, and clay to settle down and enables us to measure its height and calculate the soil texture using the Soil Textural Triangle.

 Plant Growth

For week 2, the plants are watered on alternate days with 500 ml of water for each pot. The growth of plants are measured and recorded.

Nutrient Analysis

In order to obtain the levels of 3 major nutrients in the soil which are Nitrogen, Phosphorous, and Sulphur, a lab experiment is conducted. Each test is carried out 3 times and the average result is obtained. The results are observed and recorded in a table below.

Plant Length

In order to measure the degree of growth of plant, 10 plants are chosen randomly from each pot and their root length, shoot length, and overall length are measured and recorded. The results obtained are shown in a table below.

3 comments:

  1. (1) The textural triangulation lines some are incorrect the way it is drawn.
Example: The line for silt for Mengkabong is incorrect.
Why are there only 2 lines, instead of 3 lines?

Please confirm the soil texture results with sieve analysis test for the next report.

    (2) What conclusion can be made by this group on the seedlings and root growth of the early stages by analysing the soil pH, soil texture, soil moisture, ect.
From the results, report the group discussion.
