The first flower, or the origin of flower is a mystery itself, and as said by Darwin, it is abominable. Prof Sun Ge of China's Jilin University, was sure that the first flower originated from northern China. Upon discoveries of flower fossils, Prof Sun Ge came upon a very interesting fossil, unlike any others. At the top of two simple branches were structures that appeared to enclose seeds. An enclosed seed is a defining feature of a flower, today. prof Sun Ge named the fossil Archaefructus, which refers to the fossil’s ancient fruit. Prof Sun Ge brought the fossil to his longtime friend and colleague David Dilcher, of the University of Florida, for another opinion.
To find out if Archaefructus is the first flower, we need to find out the age of the fosil. Some of the rock layers here in northwestern China date back 150 million years to the Jurassic Period, the heyday of dinosaurs. Prof Dilcher believes that this fossil from China, is the first plant to have the basic pollen- and seed-producing organs of a modern flower. This fossil shows Archaefructus, like a modern lily, had male pollen-producing organs and the female organs, called carpels, which are similar to pistils. Inside the carpels are the eggs that, when fertilized, become seeds. But unlike the lily, these organs are spread out along a stem.
The biggest surprise from the DNA evidence is that when all calculation was done, one plant showed up at the very bottom of the family tree of living flowering plants, Amborella, the oldest branch of the family tree, a rare plant that is only found in the remote Pacific island nation of New Caledonia. So is Amborella the world's oldest flowering plant or is it the Archaefructus? Prof Dilcher and Prof Sun Ge are working on that complete picture. They have compared the leaves, pollen and other visible structures of Archaefructus with Amborella. Their analysis claims that Archaefructus looks more primitive and therefore evolved first. That is why they call it the oldest flowering plant, the first flower that we know of.

Based on the video of “ The First Flower” , we know that flowering plants delight our senses like we love them in our garden. Flowering plant are not just fragrant decorative objects but they are essential to human life. So, one of the best place to see the results of the evolution of flowering plants is the Hung Do Mountains in southwestern China which span the region of Sichuan Yunan and Tibet. Daniel J. Hinkey said that China is the mother of garden whether it be the ferns or the maples , the rhododentrant camellias, they are in their place of origin. In their journey, their first stop is an alpine mearow at 14000 feet. There are a little lava forum, corydalis curva flora, liliu lava forum which are their first time see that which are absolutely staggering. The variety of climates make the Hyung Do Mountains such a rich breeding ground of plant life. Trees fossil collection located at the Florida Museum of Natural History. We should know the origin of the plant because humans are result of the illusionary event and we are not here if we did not have the products of flowering plants. Archie fructose which refers to the fossils ancient fruits. The first flowering plant did not resemble any flowers we know today, they did not have pedals, fragrance, not beautiful but simply functional.

The video shows the origin of flowers is one of botany's most enduring mysteries which until now the scientist could not find the exact truth. Darwin called the mystery abominable. Two teams of scientists have set out across China to solve that mystery which one team is searching for the clues that are held by living plants and the other works on fossil that could be the world's first flower. There is a remarkable fossil site that is revealing what the Earth looked like more than 100,000,000 years ago which that Professor Sun Ge, from China's Jilin University certain that early flowers evolved in northern China, and he is determined to find the world's first. The fossil that was found was unlike Sun Ge had ever seen before which the top of two simple branches were structures that appeared to enclose seeds. Then Sun Ge decided to shows it to his friend, David Dilcher in United States. David guessed that 95 percent of the plants are in contact with are flowering plants. Professor Yin Kaipu, a botanist from Chengdu studied about the diversity of plants in the Hengduan Mountains has been joined by Dan Hinkley, an American plant explorer. The extraordinary fossil that been found, Sun Ge named it Archaefructus, which refers to the fossil's ancient fruits. The function of flowers shows this fossil that looks nothing like a flower could be one of the world's first flower exist. Dan Hinkley said that all flowering plants flower, all flowering plant that flower fruit and the fruit is the new generation. It is the renewal of the species and the enhancement of the species. From the video, Archaefructus that unlike lily which that the organs that usually we seen on flowers today, are spread out along a stem. David believes that over the long period of evolution this stem would have shrunk, pulled the organs together for efficient pollination, and changing the leaves created what we think of as a flower. Meanwhile, Darwin showed that the whole diversity of life was interconnected and he knew that the family tree was out there. David and Sun Ge believe Archaefructus are aquatic plant which that the stem seem weak. Else Marie Friis, a leading paleobotanist in Stockholm disagrees with Dilcher and Sun Ge that Archaefructus is the first flower. Leo Hickey proved that pollen is far more common in the fossil record as the electron microscope brought into focus previously unseen detail of plants. But, today, DNA from living plants is helping to build a more accurate family tree. From the DNA evidence, one plant showed up at the very bottom of the family tree of living flowering plants which is Amborella is the oldest branch of the family tree which is a rare plant that it is only found in the remote Pacific island nation of New Caledonia. David and Sun Ge worked on that which they have compared the structures of Archaefructus with Amborella and their analysis claims that Archaefructus are looks more primitive and therefore evolved first. That why they called it a the oldest flowering plant.

A flower is known as a bloom or blossom , is the reproductive structure found in the flowering plant . We can see the important of flower everywhere , especially in nature . The examples important of flower include as a food for insects , as a source of medicines for human and animals and as a aid in a plant’s reproduction by enticing outside pollination. In a flower , there are 2 parts of reproductive organs which are the female and male reproductive organs . For female reproductive organs , the pistil is the collective term for the carpel and each carpel includes an ovary , a style and a stigma . Besides that , stamens are for male reproductive organ in plant . The stamen consists of an other and filament .On their journey , they found a lot information regarding the ancient flower . There believe that China is the best place of growing flower due to its ideal climate for cultivation .In this video , scientists try to find the exact structure of the ancient flower , which they believe that the flower is the oldest flower in the world . They travel to another country and try to find the answer . With the help of scientist from various country , together they cooperate to know details of the ancient flower .In order to find it , they went to the originally place , where the fossil of the flower was found . They try to discover some of the fossils pieces and suprisingly they found Archaefructus. Lastly , David and Sun Ge made a comparison between archaefructus and Amborella , They conclude that Archaefructus is the oldest plant due to its special strucure .
