Gonsulok Padi Bukit Week 2

1.Due to big different in the pH paper and the pH meter's result in week 1, our group have recalculate the pH value of the soil in week 2. The result is show at below:

2. For the soil texture, it will be update on report on week 3 as few miscalculation occur during the recording of the soil separation using the jug method.

3. During the first week of the project, total of 20 seed was sowed. The plant is then watered once per 2 days. The observation of the plant growth is shown below :

Mengkabong
Germination rate = 0%
Mortality rate = 100%

DKP Baru
Germination rate = 50%
Tallest plant's height = 40.3cm
Average plant's height = 26.39cm
Deficiency : few leaves of the plant are yellow in colour
mortality rate = 50%

PPIB
Germination rate = 55%
Tallest plant's height = 27cm
Average plant's height = 19.17cm
Deficiency : few leaves of the plant are yellow in colour
Mortality rate = 45%

FSSA
Germination rate = 55%
Tallest plant's height = 17.4cm
Average plant's height = 13.7cm
Deficiency : few leaves of the plant are yellow in colour
Mortality rate = 45%

ODEC
Germination rate = 60%
Tallest plant's height = 21cm
Average plant's height = 14.77cm
Deficiency : few leaves of the plant are yellow in colour
Mortality rate = 40%

4. On the second week, my group have carefully dug out 3 plants from each pot to calculate the wet weight of the plant, the length of the whole plant from tip of roots to the tip of the shoots, the length of the shoots and also the length of the roots.  The result is shown in table below :

the plant is then air dry for the dry weight calculation.

5.  We also carried out the macronutrient analysis during week 2. Due to lack of time, we didnt finish the analysis. The result will be updated on the week 3 report as we need time to carried out the analysis using the HACH kit.

  1. Revised:

pH meter for Tasik FSSA value is incorrect.

Noted for the soil texture results. Hope to see the results in the next report.

Reconfirm the soil texture results with the results from sieve analysis test.

To conclude this report which soil texture has good growth of Gonsulak Padi.
Which soil has good root growth and shoot growth.

Hint: Root growth is very important in the early stage of seedlings as they need a lot of nutrient to grow. They absorb food from the roots.

Does pH and soil texture effect the Gonsulak Padi Growth?

Suggestion it will be easier to follow the progress if the data observation table always include soil pH, soil texture (location) so you can make a data interpretation.

It will be good later if the group can capture the difference of the root growth later when this group dug out the stage after 1 month of growth. If you have the 2 weeks old one still upload the photos. So you can have second opinions from other.

Try to relate the deficiency symptoms with soil nutrient and heavy metal availability in later reports.

  2. Did the group measure the total dry weight of the soil samples after air dried?
